What can I say about Paris that hasn't already been said? City of lights. City of love? The city that has captured the hearts and imaginations of so many. Any love letter I could write would surely fall short of describing it's true beauty. All I know is we're in love and the second date was even better than the first.
In my efforts to keep my photography skills fresh, I often put way too much stress on myself to get great photos (especially in an amazing place like Paris). So, I made a concerted effort on this trip to practice "casual" photography. I can't say I didn't still stress, but I got to have fun with composition, editing, and juxtaposition. A lot of these photos aren't the same editing style, feature tourist photobombers, and weren't taken in remotely the same place as the ones I collaged them with. And there's a kind of freedom in that, which takes me back to being on vacation in the greatest city on earth.
"You know, I sometimes think, how is anyone ever gonna come up with a book, or a painting, or a symphony, or a sculpture that can compete with a great city. You can't. Because you look around and every street, every boulevard, is its own special art form and when you think that in the cold, violent, meaningless universe that Paris exists, these lights, I mean come on, there's nothing happening on Jupiter or Neptune, but from way out in space you can see these lights, the cafés, people drinking and singing. For all we know, Paris is the hottest spot in the universe." - Midnight in Paris
